CITIZEN SCIENCE

Conducting Science with Citizen Volunteers

Community volunteers work with Challenge staff to collect samples from local streams for water quality tests.

Several intrepid residents have ventured out on snowmobiles to sample streams as part of a Southwestern Crown Collaborative project to monitor the effects of roads and wildfire on water quality. Trumpeter Swan sightings, Long-billed Curlew numbers, and Common Loon nesting data are collected yearly by watershed volunteers.
